Free Mum Hugs Australia is a group of affirming people. It's our goal to let the LGBTIQ+ community know that they are unconditionally loved and accepted. We know many people reject these precious humans. The simple act of offering a hug, or a high five (some folk don't like hugs) makes a huge a difference to people's lives.
Get on board, buy your T-shirt and know that 5% of each sale will be go directly to FMHA to help spread the love! There are always additional costs, such as insurance, so every bit helps.
History of FMH
Sara Cunningham ( www.freemomhugs.org) started with a hand made button at a pride parade and now has FMH chapters all over the USA. Susan Cottrell ( www.freedhearts.org) brought Free Mom Hugs buttons to Australia in 2016. Three Aussie Mums donned Free Mum Hugs T-shirts and took a FMH sign to Brisbane Pride in September 2018. They were surprised and overwhelmed as hundreds of grateful humans rushed to receive hugs and motherly love from total strangers. There were tears and sad stories as well as grateful happy stories and many didn't want to let go. We know there's a huge need for this movement and there are many Mums, Dads, Friends and Allies, who want to get involved and share love through this simple loving act.
World Pride 23 marked our first float in the Sydney Mardi Gras. We were also interviewed live on ABC Weekend Breakfast so word is spreading and FMHA is growing rapidly around the country!!
Sydney Mardi Gras 24 we marched again and had awesome TV coverage.... within 5 minutes of this airing we had over 50 membership requests !!
